APOLOGY TO OUR IRISH FRIENDS
[Brian replying to an reader who asked why no Irish dates on the Q+PR 2008 tour? See LETTERS.]
A disgrace?! Well, you can lightly bandy such words around, Jim, if you like, but if you were sitting with us (and our agents), trying to fit a tour together, in the available venues all over Europe, in the available period, in an order in which the trucking can deliver on time, etc, etc. - you would probably soon agree that it's impossible to please everyone ... or even to please most people! Last time we announced a tour, I can promise you we got a couple of similar letters from outraged Scots! That time we couldn't secure a workable Scottish date, but this time we have! Last time we DID get to Ireland, and we had a brilliant time. But this time it just was not possible within the constraints we had.
I'm certainly VERY sad not to have an Irish date this time around ... I'm missing my home-grown Guinness! But I can promise you guys we won't forget. Most of my Irish friends have already gone for O2 tickets ... it should be an interesting 'first' - and well worth the journey. But like I said, I'm sorry we won't get to the lovely green country this time. Soon. Assuming our aged bodies survive this jaunt!!
cheers
Bri
